Is PopGen Vienna open for international applicants?

Yes. Please follow the application guidelines.

Will successful candidates receive a scholarship?

Yes, accepted students will receive a monthly salary along with full health and social benefits based on the regulations of the Austrian Science Foundation (FWF) and Austrian legislation.

Do my reviewers need to send a signed letter by post?

No, an electronic reference letter sent by email to the program coordinator is preferred.

Will you inform every applicant about the ranking outcome?

No. Due to the high number of applicants we will only inform successful candidates about their selection for interviews (please allow several days for screening after the call deadline). Applicants may follow the status updates on our website to keep track of the screening procedure.

Is a motivation letter really necessary?

Yes, absolutely. We won't consider applications without an included motivation letter.

When is the official program start?

Traditionally, our students start at the beginning of September to be able to fully attend the introductory course. However, also other start dates around the year are possible.

Does the program provide accommodation?

No. But we will assist in finding nearby student flats.
